December 2008 Design ChallengeThe StampsmithHi, everyone! I hope everybody’s holiday season is going off without a hitch and if you celebrated Thanksgiving in the United States, I hope your day was full of family and joy. Oh, yea...and TURKEY! Haha! Take a moment, now, though, to enjoy our December Port of Call, Mexico and Baja California! Baja California (meaning Lower California in English) is the northernmost state of Mexico. It is sometimes informally referred to as Baja California Norte, to distinguish it from both the Baja California peninsula, of which forms the northern half, and Baja California Sur, the adjacent state that covers the southern half of the peninsula. Before becoming a state in 1953, the area was known as the North Territory of Baja California. The state has a population of 2,844,469, much more than the sparsely populated Baja California Sur to the south. Over 75% of the population lives in the capital city, Mexicali, or in Tijuana. Both these cities are close to the U.S. border. Baja California is a large State with climate that varies from one city to another. In general, the seasons are unmistakable, fall is fresh, winter is cool, and spring and summer are sunny and warm. Every season offers you a different face of the Baja California landscapes, during winter snow covered mountains and during summer many beaches to enjoy the best of the fun in the sun. In between excursions out, be sure to check out our sponsor this month: The Stampsmith! The Stampsmith was launched in 2000, and has become known for unique art rubber stamp images. The Stampsmith specializes in beautiful photo art rubber stamps with a vintage flair, plus alphabets, a Medieval Collection, playing card stamps, movie star themes, religious and ethnic and more! They are much larger in person than they appear on the computer. The price per sheet is a bargain and their quality is unparalleled. Also, you can expect a free rubber surprise with every order! Free is always good! We strongly suggest you visit www.stampsmith.net for yourself and see all they have to offer! New stamp sheets of Christmas are available now and you can check out new artwork by features artists and also in their gallery!
